Quetzal

November, 2008

When Quetzal formed in Los Angeles in the early nineties, their goal was to create "a new experience in Chicano music." Quetzal's music blends Mexican and Afro-Cuban rhythms, jazz, R&B, and rock to create art as a means of inspiring social change. Quetzal's expertise in Chicano music come from their ability incorporate cultural history in contemporary musical expression by utilizing traditional instruments such as Jarana Jarocha, Requinto (Guitarra De Son), Tarima, and Chekere.
