Sol e Mar’s six-man ensemble explodes with the rhythms of Brazil, Cuba, West Africa, and the United States, blending them all into a transformational experience of complex rhythms and percussion. Showcasing world-class drummers, the lines between performer and audience are blurred through call and response and a broad spectrum of percussion instruments. This interaction builds a sense of connection and community while transporting listeners to distant lands! Formed in 1985, Sol e Mar is led by renowned drummer, educator, and producer Mark Lamson who is one of the leading authorities of Brazilian and Cuban drumming in the Western Hemisphere. Lamson co-created landmark recording Bata Ketu, which was voted “one of the top 50 drum records of all time” by Drum Magazine. Sol e Mar has performed hundreds of shows for audiences of all ages in schools, universities, festivals, fundraisers, and corporate themed events.
