The Big Idea is a collection of drawings, paintings, ceramics, and sculptures by Bruce-Guadalupe Elementary and Middle School students who are involved in the ALMA (Avanzando Lectura y Matematicas a traves del Arte/Advancing Literacy and Math through Art) project. The ALMA project was made possible through a federal grant awarded to the UCC and BGCS in collaboration with UWM’s Peck School of Arts.
ALMA was funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Arts in Education Model Development and Dissemination Grant Program, CFDA #84.351D, awarded from 9/1/2010-8/31/2014. The total grant award was $610,766 which represented 67% of the total cost of the project. Non-governmental sources comprised $293,184 and 33% of total project costs.
