Welcome to the Holy Land
Welcome to the Holy Land
By Luis De La Torre | September, 2009
Chicago-based artist Luis De La Torre used the language of colors, shapes and shadows to communicate his experience of being a Mexican-American in the 21st century. Born in Texas and raised in both Mexico and Chicago, De La Torre used a variety of mediums, including watercolor and oil painting, to project his vivid visions that come from straddling two seemingly different worlds throughout his life. His thought-provoking and colorful artwork incorporated elements of time, history and geography and touched on universal themes such as war, spiraling economies, and the commercialization of humanity.
